MULTIPLICATION WITH AREA MODEL
when presented with two digit multiplication students will decompose each number by writing the number in expanded form.
EXAMPLE: 23 X 15
23= 20 +3
The numbers DO NOT change. Decomposing the number just gives more reason to how two digit multiplication. Students can explain how to multiply two numbers this way.

Step 2: Divide 90 by 9
Step 3: Divide 18 by 9
